First Windows Surface Game - Firefly

In case you haven't heard of Windows Surface, here's the video.

Microsoft recently showcase their first ever game for Windows Surface called Firefly, which looks pretty boring... The game require player to trap the Firefly by using fingers, and contain them in a jar.. that's all... Not doubt about the innovation, but it a little bit too dull, don't you think so?

But the main purpose is to test out the functionality of Windows Surface, hmmm.. they could have done better..

Transformer Phone

You have seen Transformer movie, Transformer cartoon, Transformer T-shirt, Transformer toys, Transformer school bag, but have you seen a real life Transformer hand phone?

Toshiba came out with it's new Softbank 815T PB - the robot/cellphone hybrid for those that never get enough of Transformer...
It's made for an upcoming Japanese TV drama called Ketai Sousakan 7 and it really does transform, Transformers-like, into a robot toy complete with tiny bunched fists.
Even the display-face is part of the robot effect, and the phone comes with games with the same theme.
It's in silver and black, has a QVGA screen, 3.2 megapixel camera and is a 3G phone, so it might venture outside Japanese shores.

The Baltimore Sun writes: “A Baltimore police officer was suspended yesterday after a YouTube video surfaced on the Internet showing him berating and manhandling a teenage skateboarder at the Inner Harbor ... the officer ... puts the boy in a headlock, pushes him to the ground, questions his upbringing, threatens to ’smack’ him”. The last words in the video are “You got that camera on?! If I find myself on ... [video ends]”

Virgin's coconut-powered 747

Richard Branson, a coconut, and a 747

Mr Branson's airline Virgin Atlantic yesterday flew a jumbo jet partly powered by a bio-fuel made from babassu nuts and coconut oil - a first for a commercial aircraft.

Mr Branson said at Heathrow: "This pioneering flight will enable those of us who are serious about reducing our carbon emissions to go on developing fuels which will power our aircraft in [future] through sustainable next-generation oils, such as algae." Simultaneously, Mr Branson warned the Government that multinational companies will quit London if a third runway at Heathrow is not granted because of the gridlock and bottlenecks that will result.

Light Alert - LightAlert.js

I am here to share a little script that I created last time, I have done some update recently and now is the time releasing it to share with others, as well to gain feedback from users' comments.

I did not put in any comments/ remarks in the script, as the script is fairly easy to understand.

If you have any feedback please feel free to drop me a message or comment, it will be appreciated.

The idea of this script is to get rid of the old alert box that sometimes I think is really annoying, and unnecessary.

In some situation, where you just want to let your user to be informed on certain thing, alert is a little bit too "hard" to me. And due to the popularity on light boxes, as well as other awesome libraries like jQuery, Prototype.js, Scriptaculous.js, I decided to have my own script to serve this very basic need.

Here is the different between LightAlert and traditional alert:

I do have some samples on the right side of this blog, take a look on those sample.

Now LightAlert.js is available for download in Google Code.

Remember to drop me some words..

Microsoft to Acquire Yahoo For $44.6 Billion

Microsoft has made an official proposal to acquire Yahoo in a deal worth $44.6 billion in cash and stock, at a price of $31 per share, which represents a 62 percent premium for shareholders.

The offer has been turned down by Yahoo! recently.

Last week, Microsoft responded to Yahoo’s rejection of their $44.6 billion acquisition offer by writing that they “reserve the right to pursue all necessary steps to ensure that Yahoo!’s shareholders are provided with the opportunity to realize the value inherent in our proposal.” Today, confirmation that Microsoft will go hostile in their efforts to acquire Yahoo, with DealBook reporting that the software giant will attempt to seize control of Yahoo’s Board of Directors, setting the stage for a vote to approve the deal.
